Micah 6:8

“He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?”

— Micah 6:8

I don’t have anything profound to add to the prophet Micah’s words, I just wanted to share them. They popped into my head this evening as I was sitting here thinking about tomorrow (or today, I guess, seeing as it’s 12:26am). My boyfriend has a grad school interview and I’m going to a career fair and I’m basically sitting on my bed, thinking about those things, freaking the eff out. Except I’m not anymore. Because I was reminded that I have, today and in this life, a grand total of three responsibilities. Do justly, Love mercy, and Walk humbly with my God. Yeah, there’s other stuff, but that other stuff’s peripheral. This is what matters. This is what will last. This is what I need to focus on.

I found this hugely encouraging, and I hope some of you do too. I have three responsibilities, and worrying about what’s next isn’t one of them. So I’m done worrying, at least for tonight.
